In development since 2007, Bible Stories with Historical Illustrations was designed to the specifications of what a Bible storybook should be, adapted from a set of guidelines published in 2006 by a scholar of children's storybibles

Released in 2011, Bible Stories with Historical Illustrations stands alone in the field of Bible storybooks with over 500 illustrations from nineteenth-century (1800's) books that were first collected from obscure sources and then digitally enhanced to restore and improve quality. Most of the acclaimed Bible illustrations by Gustave Doré are included, along with the works of many other talented artists. Nearly all of the illustrations include captions with descriptive information. The pictures and captions are arranged to closely follow the text.
The structure and text of the 233 stories is based on the Bible Storybook by Elsie Egermeier, first published in the early 1900's. Bible Stories with Historical Illustrations is the Bible Storybook for the new millennium, rewritten in modern language and lavishly illustrated to suit the modern reader's taste. Additionally, Bible Stories with Historical Illustrations includes some elements of stories that were intentionally omitted from Egermeier's book due to violent content or for the sake of brevity.
Unlike some other Bible storybooks that have received criticism for doing so, Bible Stories with Historical Illustrations does not attempt to moralize or turn Bible stories into object lessons. The only lessons are those found within the Bible itself. Some minor commentary or reflection on the events is included in certain stories, but in general the book follows the text of the Bible fairly closely without introducing new ideas. The book does summarize certain complex series of events without including every detail, but an effort has been made to avoid adding any new information.
